La Lomita was built in 2000, the result of a collaborative effort between a Santa Fe architect and a local teacher-contracter, one of the few remaining adobe builders in this area of New Mexico. They are well-known in the Southwest and have presented local workshops on solar adobe building.
  • La Lomita, equipped with security system, features a modern, well-equipped kitchen which flows into a great room with magnificent mountain and mesa views.
  • Two bedrooms sleep four, one of which is large enough to set up a crib. Two single pull-out loveseats and a queen size sofa in the great room accommodate four more for sleeping.
  • Everything is on one floor, including the bathroom with a shower-tub combination and a laundry room with a new washer, dryer and utility sink.
  • A porch stretches across the front of the house, and comfortable deck chairs provide a front row seat for spectacular sunsets and vigorous hummingbird watching.
  • The well, which is more than 400 feet deep, provides clear, crisp water.
  • La Lomita is heated by a clean-burning propane Franklin stove, an electric base board heater in each bedroom and, of course, by the sun warming the floors and adobe walls via the south-facing Trombe window panels. In the summer, the same adobe walls, with the help of ceiling fans, allow the house to maintain a comfortable temperature naturally.

La Lomita is nestled into 10 acres of the Black Mesa providing wonderful views and days of climbing and hiking.
